Hello and welcome back to the Reg 2 blog. We hope you all had a wonderful and peaceful winter break. It has been so lovely to see everyone back again.
This week, our class book has been Our Class Is a Family by Shannon Olsen. This story helps children understand that we are a team who care for, support, and look out for one another. The children have been encouraged to decorate a paper doll and a jigsaw piece, which will be joined together to show how we are all unique and important members of the Reg 2 family.
Building on this, the children have also been reminded of our class Rainbow Rules and how they help to keep us happy, safe, and ready to learn together.
To help reintroduce the children to the classroom, we have set up some of their most popular activities. These activities provide a range of learning opportunities across the EYFS curriculum.
The children have engaged in our mindfulness activities and songs. This week, we learned about feeling excited and how movement and breathing can help us to calm down. We have also added a new page to our calm breathing book. This time, we practised breathing like a jack-in-the-box—curling up as we breathed out, then jumping up and taking a big, deep breath in.
The children have continued to enjoy their time playing outside and have all been wrapped up warmly. We talked about how the current season is winter and added snow to our season tree. The children also discovered some ice in our tyres and, with close supervision, enjoyed exploring the different textures and sensations.
Thank you for taking the time to read our class blog.
We look forward to seeing everybody next week.
