As Easter break is coming up, now is the best time to start the Toileting Training process with your child if they are not trained already. This gives you 2 weeks to introduce the potty and encourage your child to show awareness. Consistency is key, please be patient and gives lots of positive praise around toilet training or any attempts your child makes If you would like any advice/suggestions around toilet training please feel free to speak to any of the Sunflower Team and we will support you the best we can
Below is a picture of Traci's dummy tree & nappy basket..
We are encouraging the children to have less dummy time at nursery as this affects speech sounds and sometimes causes speech and language delays. We have dummies at nap times and the children respond well to this I would really like to encourage getting rid of dummies/bottles over the Easter Break or limiting dummy use at home. For this we talk about the "dummy tree" at nursery, this is were children can hang up their dummies and say goodbye to them, they then receive a certificate and special prize
If you need any advice around these transitions please speak to any member of staff in the Sunflower Room.

Tuesday 12th March
Wednesday 13th March
Today we have been focusing on our fine motor skills and the way we hold our pens to make marks. Some of the children have even started to give meanings to the marks they have made The children enjoyed the activity with cheerio's & spaghetti for posting and threading. This encourages children to concentrate for longer periods of time and use finger and thumb which links in with fine motor skills.
Outdoor play😁
Today we used the Pre-school outdoor area to challenge the children's physical skills on the climbing frame. As you can see from the pictures the children thoroughly enjoyed this and showed confidence throughout. They also really enjoyed playing and exploring on the bikes, scooters & balancing bridges. We are trying to promote physical skills by peddling trikes and pushing scooters correctly
Thursday 14th March
Today we had shredded paper with hidden numbers/shapes inside, the children really enjoyed identifying the colours of the shapes they had found. We did a messy activity which was tin foil with small amounts of different coloured paint on it. The children used cotton buds to make different marks and explored the colours by mixing. We have started adding Easter activities into play the children enjoyed exploring the Easter sensory tray and finding the little chicks, carrots & eggs that was hidden within.
In the afternoon we enjoyed water play and Amy made us a car washing station. We had the song on "working at the car wash" whilst we used the different tools/brushes to wash the wheels & variety of vehicles.
