week ending 10th October 2025

Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. Firstly, thank you all so much for coming along to parents evening. It was lovely to see you all and to share with you how your child/ren have settled into the Reception way of life. I am sure that you are every proud of them just as I am smiley

So let's take a little look at what we have been exploring this week in class linked to our text of the week A New Home for a Pirate. Enjoy!

We started the week off by thinking what we would take with us if we were a pirate on an adventure. We thought about all of the useful things we would need and here are some of our ideas smiley

We also realised that any good pirate definitely needs a pirate map. We created some of our own maps in the creative area and used them in and around the classroom to look for treasure yes

Who knew that the theme of pirates would lend itself to so many number learning opportunities. This week we have explored putting numbers in the correct order to create a picture, ordering pirates, treasure chests and coins up to 10 and a whole lot more. Take a look at us in number action!

We even went fishing for letter sound golden coins in our phonic area - a great way to practice and recall the sounds we have been learning in Read Write Inc smiley

We are also continuing with our word time work in Read Write Inc. Here we say the sounds in words, find the letter tiles and then read the word. We also practice writing our letters and try really hard to form them correctly. Don't forget the Read Write Inc meeting next week with Mrs Curtis. The time will be split between being in the classroom and then into the hall to get your RWI resources smiley

We even managed to get outside and continue our pirate and water theme there. Here we are using water and large paintbrushes to create pirate ships and treasure smiley

WE have loved our Learning to Learn this week. What a great variety of activities we have explored and look at the smiles on our faces. We have loved it! heart

Next week and the week after we will be exploring Autumn. We will get outside and look at the seasons and how they change and what happens during these important times of the year. We have so many lovely things to explore over the next few weeks and we can't wait to share them with you smiley

Have a lovely weekend
