Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been busy learning using the text Tabby McTat - a lovely story about a busker and his cat who love to make music! Let's take a little look at this weeks invitations to stay and play
We started the week off by putting the words from the story into the right order - we created and read sentences and talked about whether they made sense or not! When they didn't we muddled the words up and started over. Here we are creating our sentences
Writing has featured heavily this week in our provision. We have labelled the parts of a cat, written on cat shaped paper and shared our ideas with our friends. Our writing and love of writing is a pleasure to see! The children have made so much progress this year and we are so very proud of them
In the story of Tabby McTat they make and play music on the street. So that's exactly what we did - we listened to music, made marks and then created our own music using musical instruments. A lovely, calming session
We also took our writing outside. We used the things that we could see, hear and feel to help us write words and sentences. Here we are in action. We just love to write!
We have also been busy sketching in the creative area - we used Tabby McTat as the focus and created symmetrical sketches - the children absolutely love these types of activities - they have learned so many new skills such as how to shade, smudge and use their pencil in different ways to create different effects
We have also been busy developing our segmenting and blending skills in the phonics area in the classroom. We have been reading words on fish, feeding the cat and then ordering numerals in the maths area. Everything we do is linked to the text of the week so it's been a very busy week in class this week
We celebrated the week by hosting our sports day. What a fabulous day in the sunshine. Thank you so much for coming. It means a lot to the children. Here we are in action
That's all for this week. Can you believe that our time together in Reception is coming to an end? Our final blog will be next week and we will be taking a sample of all our Julia Donaldson learning to finish the week on a high
Have a wonderful weekend
