Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. As we approach the end of yet another busy half term we turned our thoughts to Snowy Animals this week. We have explored pets, animals that live in the jungle, those that live on farms and in the ocean and this week those that live in snowy conditions. Let's take a look at some of the lovely invitations to come and learn we have explored this week ![]()
One of the first things we did after listening to the story was to look at the differences between the Arctic and Wigan. As of yet, we have no snow, no huskies and no ice. Here we are recording the differences and talking about the similarities ![]()
In the creative area we explored creating scenes depicting the animals that would inhabit the Arctic. We selected the correct animals, discarded the ones that don't live there and created our own scenes. Take a look at our lovely work ![]()
In learning about Arctic animals we also learned about snowflakes and discovered that each snowflake is made differently and no 2 snowflakes are the same. What an amazing fact. Here we are writing on snowflakes and using blue pens to depict the cold ![]()
We took some of the words we have been learning in Read Write Inc and added them to snowflakes. We then choose words for our friends to read and created a challenge to see how many we could read in 1 minute - this really helped us to speedy read our words ![]()
However, our biggest achievement this week has been partaking in our Festive Singalong. It takes a great deal of courage to sit in front of lots of strangers and sit and sing so beautifully. We are really proud of the children and all of the progress they have made this half term ![]()
Next week we will be in full festive mood and adding a little bit of festive cheer to our classroom provision. We hope that you have an amazing weekend
