Week ending 12th July

Welcome to the blog. We have continued to look at Julia Donaldson books. This week we have looked at and completed work based on 'Room on the broom' and 'What the ladybird heard'. We have written spells, written about the story and characters. We have thought about what the ladybird was thinking.

In maths we have been practising our number skills, we have done number bonds to 10, odd and even numbers, doubling numbers and working out 1 more and 1 fewer/less than a number to 10. We have also looked at shapes and rotated them to fit a picture.

We have had lots of activities based on 'Room on a Broom' and 'What the ladybird Heard'. We cut and glues witches, we made magic wands, we painted ladybirds, drew ladybirds and coloured and cut ladybirds out.

We've had lots of fun activities based on the stories and we've had lots of other activities to help us to develop our skills. We've dressed up as witches and used our magic wands, we have played in the water and sand trays. We have been drawing, reading and writing.

We had lots of fun in our PE lesson with Mr Ellis. We practised our skills and played some games.

On Tuesday a lady from SCARF came to do a PHSE lesson with us. Our lesson theme was 'Listening to my Feelings'. We named the adults who we can ask for help from, and will keep us safe. We found out how to recognise the feelings we have when we are unsafe, and we talked about keeping ourselves safe, safe touches and consent.

This week we had a great time visiting Mrs Hannon in our year 1 classroom. She said we were amazing and she is really looking forward to us being in her class.

Next week, we will continue to look at different Julia Donaldson books and complete activities based on them.

We can't believe it is going to be our last week in reception class.

On Wednesday we are going to have a 'Teddy Bears Picnic' as a treat to end the school year. We need to bring a small teddy to school on Wednesday for it.

Have a lovely weekend.

Reception F staff and children.
