A very big well done to the children this week. They have had a lovely time in their first week being full time at school. We are sure they must be very tired because we have had a busy week.
Every morning we have been learning a new letter sound as we have started our Read Write Inc scheme. We have been learning to read and write the sounds we have learnt.
Every week we have a book that we focus our Literacy work on. This week it has been a book called 'Starting School' by Janet and Allan Alhberg. We have listened to the story, talked about and drawn pictures of the things we have liked doing in our new class, we have looked at pages of the story and spotted the sounds we have been learning in Read Write Inc.
In maths we have learnt a new word called 'subitising'. It means we can say how many things we can see without counting. We have been subitising up to 3 things. We use the Numberblocks to help us learn.
We have lots of activities in our classroom everyday to help us learn. We have many areas with fun things to do. We have a play dough table, a writing table, a maths area, a funky fingers table, construction, a story corner, an art and craft table, sand and water and the role play house. We have had a lovely time playing with our friends.
We have a snack table where we have one snack in the morning and one in the afternoon. We have crackers, breadsticks, raisins and fruit. We can have a drink of milk or water any time we want to.
We had our first PE lesson on Thursday. We went to the big hall and we loved it.
We've had a wonderful first week. Next week we will be using the story 'Marvellous Me' by Lisa Bullard. If you would like to hear the story, please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
