Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been learning using the text Starting School - a lovely story all about children's first day at school and the things that they did. Let's take a look at this weeks learning
This week we started our Read Write Inc journey. We started the week off learning how to read m, a, s, d and t. We have been practising writing the sounds on large pieces of paper alongside our friends. Here we are practising our letters. Here is a little reminder of the rhymes we use .....
m - Maisie mountain mountain
a - round the apple down the leaf
s - slither down the snake
d- round his bottom, up his tall neck and down to his feet
t - down the tower across the tower
We have also loved playing and listening to Elly and Fred. We have played games where we have had to listen to the sounds, push them together and say the word. Great fun and something to work on at home
We also thought about the things we have enjoyed accessing this week. We have loved the different areas in the classroom and we have all shared different ideas with our friends. We drew a picture, tried hard to recognise, say and write the initial sounds under our picture. Amazing work everyone!
We have also been developing our knowledge of letter sounds using the text of the week. We took a page of the text, scanned it with our pointing finger and highlighted letters m, a and s. Take a look at our fabulous work. Great letter detective work!
We have also been exploring how to write letters in different areas of the classroom. Today we explored writing outside. Who knew that a bucket of water and some brushes could create such excitement. Look at the letters outside we have written
In Maths this week we have been learning about the number 3. We have been looking at dot patterns and saying whether it is 3 or not 3. We have watched the number 3 number block episode and looked how 3 can be made up of 2 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1. Here we are exploring number 3
This week we enjoyed our second session of PE in the hall. Our new day for PE is Wednesday. Today we practised skills such as stretching, changing direction, making shapes with our body and how to listen carefully to instructions
We have also been exploring patterns in the classroom environment. Here we are exploring mark making. We can create swirls, circles, lines and squiggles. He we are in motion
Next week we will be using the text Marvellous Me. This text will be explored in greater depth across all areas of the curriculum. If you would like to listen to and watch the story before Monday please click on the link below
