Week ending 14th June

Welcome to the blog. We've had a lovely week working with the Julia Donaldson story, 'Monkey Puzzle'. We've enjoyed listening to the story and retelling it. We have written descriptions of the jungle animals from the story, thinking about colours, sizes and noises they make. We have looked at the jungle as an environment and compared it to other environments. We've made story maps thinking about the main events at beginning, middle and end of the story.

In maths we have been looking at patterns within numbers. We have looked at groups of objects and said if they are 'equal' or not. We have learnt about doubling numbers and how to represent double numbers. We have decided if numbers are odd and even and sorted them. We have also practised patterns again by continuing patterns and making up our own patterns using counters and designing jewellery making bead patterns.

We've listened to the music, 'The dance of the sugar plum fairy' by Tchaikovsky. We talked about how it made up feel and if we liked it. We watched a ballerina dance to it and we had a go at dancing to it too.

The story 'Monkey Puzzle' is based in the jungle so we've had lots of jungle and jungle animal activities. We've had role-play, writing, play dough and lots of craft activities were we have cut, collaged, painted and drawn pictures.

We are continuing our run of reading Julia Donaldson books. Next week, we are looking at the story 'Tiddler'. If you would like to listen to it, please click the link below.

Have a lovely weekend.
