Week ending 14th March

Welcome to our blog. This week has been so much fun because on Tuesday we went to the farm. We had a lovely afternoon and found out lots of new things. We went on the bus to Greenslate Farm, met the animals and looked at how they grow vegetables.

We were very lucky we met and fed, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens.

We looked around the farm and found out about how they grow vegetables.

This week our literacy work has been based on the story 'The Growing Story' by Ruth Krass. We have written about what we would like to do as a job when we grow up, we had fire fighters, pizza man, ice cream lady as just a few of the things they would like to do. We have thought about the changes we have as we grow up and the children wrote about things they had as a baby but don't have now. We have also written about our trip to the farm.

In maths we have been looking at numbers in parts and wholes. We have worked with the number 7 a lot. We used the rhyme 7 little ducks went swimming one day and worked out how many ducks swam over the hill and how many stayed with Mummy Duck but she still always had 7 baby ducks. We have also been looking at heights and using the language tall, taller, tallest and short, shorter, shortest. We made towers to show we understood the words.

We've had lots of growing and farm activities in our classroom this week. Look how busy we have been!!!

Next week we will be using the story, 'A Superhero Like You' by Ranj Singh. If you would like to read the story please use the link below.

Have a lovely weekend.
