week ending 14th March 2025

Welcome back to our class blog. We have packed so much learning into our week and we cannot wait to share it with you. This week we have been using the text The Growing Story - a lovely story about a little boy who could see the seasons changing and the animals growing but yet he didn't realise he to had grown until he put on some old clothes. Let's start off by looking at the invitations to come and learn this week smiley

We started the week off by completing our World Book Day display. The children all created their own self portraits and then illustrated their favourite book front cover. The display looks fabulous and we cannot wait to share it with you at our upcoming parents evening. Until then, here is a sneak preview smiley

On Monday we looked at the photographs kindly sent in of the children as babies. We displayed them on the board and encouraged the children to come and look at them and make guesses as to who they thought they were. We absolutely loved this activity and the children took great delight in sharing and talking about their baby pictures smiley

We then thought about the things we could do as a baby and the things we do now as a child. We also extended this to think about the different types of jobs we might like to do in the future. Here is some of our work smiley

Prior to our trip we looked at life cycles. We talked about how tadpoles evolve into frogs and learned some new language such as froglet. We took the time to find out information, create diagrams and look at the stages of change. Fascinating!

We also looked at how daffodils change and how bulbs are planted, shoots grow up, roots grow down and how the petals change and grow from a bud. Take a look at some of the lovely work we completed smiley

The highlight of the week was without doubt the trip. We absolutely loved being hands on on the farm. We learned so much! We touched the animals, fed them, learned how food is grown and what it needs to survive. The children were exceptionally well behaved and the farm staff commented on just how sensible they were. We are so very proud of them. Here we are down on the farm heart

On our return to school we used the photographs above to help us create a recount of the visit. Here is just some of the writing we produced documenting our trip to the farm.

Learning about life cycles has given us the perfect opportunity to learn more about how to find information using books. We have scoured lots of different books and discovered lots of new facts and information for example did you know a young snake is called a snakelet? Here we are exploring our information texts smiley

We have also been using our sounds to create and read words we have been exploring in Read Write Inc. Here are some of the words we created and read. Keep up the good work everyone!

Next week we will be using the text A Superhero like you. Please click on the link below if you would like to listen to the story before Monday -
