Hello and welcome to this weeks class blog. What a lot we have packed into this week. Let's take a little look. We start the blog off as we always do by taking a look at some of the invitations to play we have explored this week. These are the activities and experiences that we set up for the children to explore when they are working and learning in continuous provision
This week we have been using the text What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside. A lovely story written by Julia Donaldson and it gave the children another opportunity to explore different animals. So far our texts of the week have included pets and sea creatures and those that live at the seaside. More to come on next weeks text.
We used the focus of ladybirds many times this week in our creative area. We explored what they looked like, how they fly and what body parts they have. Here are some of the lovely images we have created this week
We also watched and observed the 2 minute silence on the 11th. The children were wonderful, as always and we explored some of the activities in class linked to poppies and to help us understand more. Here we are in action
We also created our own story map linked to the text of the week. We talked about the events in the story and used drawings and words to help us to retell the story. Take a look at us working carefully to create our story maps
In Music this week we listened to and talked about the song Boogie Wonderland. We loved it! Maybe play it at home and see if the children can identify the instruments
In Maths this week we have been exploring part and whole. We have explored lots of different activities and talked about how parts of things need to be joined together in order to create a whole. Here we are talking about body parts and how when they are together they make a whole person
We also looked a little more in-depth at the characters and talked about them. We thought it would be a good idea to write them down so we don't forget. Take a look at our fabulous writing. We are really proud of the progress children are making
We also developed lour Funky Fingers this week. We used scratch art tiles to write letters and patterns. We held our tools carefully and securely to help us make our marks
And finally. Our text of the week next week is On The Farm. A lovely story about the different types of animals that live on the farm. Please remember it is our trip on Tuesday to Haigh Hall. Whilst there we will explore the woods and look at the animals that live in the woods as well as learn more about habitats. All children need to be in full school uniform that day and come to school with wellingtons on and their school shoes in a bag ready to change when we return. There is no need to send snacks, money or water bottles etc. Please make sure they have a warm coat just in case the weather isn't kind to us!
Have a great weekend
