Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been using the text Jack and the Beanstalk to help us with our learning Let's take a little look at some of the lovely invitations to come and learn we have explored this week
We started the week off by exploring lots of different shades of green - just like the beanstalk. We mixed our own colours and added them to a swatch and worked out different ways to make darker shades of green. Here we are in action
We thought carefully about the characters from the story and the types of things that they said. We recreated some of the speech from the story and added it to a speech bubble
We used Number Blocks to help us with our learning in Maths. We created steps using cubes and talked about how each number block is created by adding one more.
We also create story maps using the order of events, characters and words from the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. This helps us to understand about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of story and to use story telling language in our play
Despite the weather we have still been able to explore outside. We have had some paper planes donated to us and the children have been amazed at how the wind carried them around the playground. Here we are in action
We have also been sorting objects according to their initial sounds. Here we are in action
In PE this week we have been developing our throwing and aiming skills. We have been throwing underarm, taking a step and trying to hit a target. It was a tricky skill to master but we got there!
We even extended the theme of Traditional Tales into our yoga sessions
Next week we will be learning using the text The Enormous Turnip. Please click on the link below to listen to the story before Monday
