Welcome back to our class blog for this week. We have enjoyed our learning through the book, 'The Smartest Giant in Town' by the author Julia Donaldson. In Literacy we have created maps to follow all the places the giant went and where he met the different animals he helped. We have done sentence building, we had to arrange the words to make sentences from the story and read them to check they made sense. We have also made a list of the new clothes that George the Giant bought in the shop.
In Maths we have been comparing numbers. We have been ordering numbers and saying how we know which number goes in certain places on a number line because it is bigger or smaller than the numbers next to it. We have made our own number lines and ordered towers of cubes to match their numerical value. We have also looked at 2D shapes again, we have named and described them and then arranged and rotated them to fit to make pictures.
This week we have spent a lot time at the craft table making designs for some of the giant's new clothes. We have made tie patterns and cut them out, we have collaged ties and scarves. We also created crowns like the animals gave to the Giant to say 'Thank you'. We also had the paints out to create out own pictures.
We have had lots of activities to help us learn around our classroom.
Next week we will be continuing to look at books by Julia Donaldson. Our text of the week will be 'A Squash and a Squeeze'. If you would like to listen to it please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
