week ending 18th October 2024

Hello and a warm Autumn welcome back to this weeks blog. This week our learning has been focused on Autumn. We have been exploring the concept in so many different ways. First of all let's take a little look at all of the lovely invitations to come and play we have explored in class this week smiley

We started the week off by exploring mark making in different contexts. This week we have explored sand, salt, paint and even chalked on pumpkins - a greet way to develop our hand eye co-ordination. Take a look at some of our lovely work yes

We looked at the story Leaf Man and used natural materials such as leaves, conkers, seeds etc to create our own leaf men. We had an amazing time and talked in detail about the features we were including. Take a look at our work we are so proud of our efforts smiley

We have also been developing our pencil grip this week by exploring lots of new and exciting Funky Finger activities that help us develop our hand eye co-ordination. Take a little look at this weeks Funky Thursday activities. One of our favourite times of the week smiley

We have also been looking at different patterns in our maths learning. We have made patterns with all kinds of Autumnal pieces such as leaves and conkers. The children have had a great time and persevered. Well done everyone smiley

We have also been busy in our Creative area. We have looked at what happens to the trees in Autumn time and then created our every own trees.

We have also been developing our knowledge of cvc words and labelling. We took a picture about a pumpkin patch and added the sounds we could hear to a post it note. Take a look at our amazing writing. Keep working on those letter sounds at home it's really paying off everyone smiley

Speaking of Pumpkin Patches we have made our won in class. We have taken part in role play, worked together, identified numbers on price tags, counted, designed posters. Such a fabulous experience and all in the classroom. We have had a great time learning yes

And once we had picked the pumpkins we then cut them open to explore what they looked like on the inside. Here we are drawing what we can see

We also explored Autumn using the media of Pop Art. We looked at some images and then recreated our own. Take a look at these wonderful examples. The children took their time, worked carefully and the care and attention they displayed was marvellous. Well done everyone smiley

And finally in our Maths work this week we have been learning about heavy and light. We discovered that we an use or hands to weigh objects like a human weighing machine. Our challenge was to use our hands and select 2 objects from within the classroom environment and decide which was lightest and which was heaviest yes Here we are in action

We hope that you have a wonderfully relaxing weeks holiday. The children have worked so very hard during their first half term in Reception and I am very proud of them. On our return to school we will be using the text Jacob O Reilly wants a pet. If you would like to listen to the story in advance please click on the link below.
