week ending 19th December 2025

Welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a fabulous week it has been. Let's take a look at all of the lovely experiences we have explored this week smiley

We have had such a lovely week writing to Santa, creating cards and all other things festive. Here is a sneak peek at some of our independent writing smiley

We have also had a very special visitor to class this week. What a wonderful experience for the children. They were overjoyed with happiness when they spoke to him smiley

We have also been busy ordering numbers on parcels. We have been talking about one more and one less and talking about the numbers we can add together to make other numbers. Here we are in action smiley

Our funky finger area has been very popular this week. Each of our activities has encouraged us to develop our fine motor skills and strengthen our fingers smiley

In our writing area we have been exploring writing patterns. We listened to christmas music that was calm and relaxing and then made marks in time to the music. We made swirls, zig zags, circles and lots more shapes smiley

In our phonics area this week we have been reading cvc words and then cutting out the pictures to add to Santa's sack. The children's reading is coming along fabulously and we want to thank you for your continued support this term. It really has made a massive difference smiley

We have also been thinking and learning about symmetry. We took half pictures of a variety of Christmas objects, used a mirror and then replicated the design. Great work everyone yes

We finished the week off with the most amazing party. One filled with laughter, smiles, dancing and of course yummy things to eat smiley

As we approach the end of the term we have looked back over all of the wonderful texts we have shared since we started in Reception. Take a look at all of our wonderful stories that we have shared together. Which has been your favourite?

And finally all that's left to say is we wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas. On our return to school in January we will change the focus of our learning to Traditional Tales. Our first story will be The Gingerbread Man. If you would like to listen to it in advance please click on the link below -
