Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. We have been using the text Marvellous Me to help us leanr more about how we are all different and have unique skills and talents. As always, we set the room up with lots of activities to help children learn to tolerate others, share and learn new skills and knowledge through play. Here are some of the lovely activities we have explored this week
We started the week of by thinking about what makes us marvellous. We talked about being able to run fast, share with others, being a gymnast and a footballer player. More importantly, we celebrated everyone's differences, skills and talents and congratulated each other
In our creative area we learned about the importance of looking carefully. We created some pastel sketches of sunflowers and what a truly talented bunch of artists we are. Take a look at these masterpieces
This week we have been learning the sounds m a s d and t - remember to say the sounds and not the letter names! Please practice the formation sheets we have sent home with your child - get them to say the sounds as they write as this will really help them to retain. We have loved watching the RWI videos of Ellie and Fred! Look how much we can write already!
We also matched letter sounds together and said them aloud as we did so!
In PE this week we took our coloured scarves into the hall and created shapes and patterns in the air. We went side to side, up and down and around in big circles. This will also help the children with the skills required and needed to be a writer! Keep up the good work everyone!
One of our Funky Fingers challenges this week was to create shapes using lollipop sticks. On Friday last week we learned the names of the 2d shapes and talked about whether they could roll or not! This week we made our own 2d shapes and look how proud we are
And finally, our class charter. We thought long and hard about all of the things we need to be and do to help keep our classroom a very happy classroom. We came up with an agreed set of values and this is what we are aiming for each and everyday. We all signed dour names to say that we will do our very best to make good choices and be kind
Next week we will be using the lovely text On the Way Home - a story about a little girl who has hurt her knee falling from a swing but has a lovely imagination that she uses to bring in lots of different character meetings.
