Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. We hope that you all had a wonderful weeks half term and it is so lovely to see the children return refreshed and ready to learn. Let's take a look at this weeks learning.
We started the week off by looking at some half face images of different animals and then we talked about how we could add the other half of the features. We used pencils and our observational skills and sketched. Here are the end products
We also thought about the types of pet that we would like in our own homes. We had so many wonderful ideas and the children's writing is really coming on a treat. Remember to keep practising those sounds at home
We have also been exploring some of the words we might come across in Reda Write Inc - our CVC words, words such as cat, log, dog etc. Here is some of our independent writing. Amazing isn't it?
We have also been busy developing our funky fingers. This is a skilll we do each and every week that helps us to build up the strength in our fingers and make them ready for holding a pencil and writing. Take a look at some of the activities we have explored to help this skill
To help us develop our knowledge of pets and animals we used the Internet to find out information. We worked together to choose an animal. thought of a question, asked google and then recorded the animals in a fact file. Here we are composing our own fact files
We have also been looking at animal skins and matching animals to them. We discussed that some giraffes have splodges and some have more of a circle pattern. We learned so many new facts. Here we are sorting and matching
As we do every week we explore our Yoga learning. Each day we come in from the playground and access Yoga - a great way to calm both our bodies and mind after a busy lunchtime. This week we have been exploring animal yoga - you can access all of these by typing Cosmic Yoga into You Tube - here we are in action
We also had Tracey visit us and talk to us about healthy bodies and how we can use hand washing and tooth brushing to help us stay healthy in school and at home. We really enjoyed the sessions and there was so much information for us to listen to and learn - ask your child what they remember. The key information was .....
Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes
Brushing before bedtime is so very important
Next week we will be using the text Commotion in the Ocean as the focus for our leanring. We will be looking at animals that live under the sea and looking at how their environment is different. Have a great weekend. If you would like to listen to the story in advance of Monday please click the link below
