Week ending 20th June 2025

Hello and welcome back to this weeks blog. This weeks learning has been all about Superworm. We have absolutely loved this weeks text of the week. Let's take a look at what we have been learning about this week smiley

We started the week off in our Funky Finger area putting the pieces of the front cover to Superworm back together - a bit like a jigsaw! We had a great time problem solving smiley

After listening to the story a number of times we then created our own story map. The children are really good at retelling the story, identifying key events and adding arrows that determine which way the text is read. Take a look at our wonderful work smiley

We also took some of the phrases from the text, read them and matched them up to the correct picture. This was a great activity and allowed us to practice our reading and our memory and recall about what happened in the story smiley Here we are in action yes

In keeping with our work on minibeasts we created images using an artists work as the stimulus. This activity taught us a lot about space, dimensions and perspective - we are truly great artists in Reception W smiley

We have also been exploring our independent writing opportunities in class. Each week we offer the children experiences that allow and promote their independent writing. The children love to write and share their finished products with staff and children. Here is just a small sample of this weeks fabulous efforts smiley

In Learning to Learn this week we have explored minibeasts, colours and developed our imagination and story telling skills. We have had a great time learning smiley

Next week we will be using the text Zog as the focus for our learning. This lovely story all about dragons at dragon school is great for helping us to identify and talk about differences and similarities.
