Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog and what a wonderful week it has been in Reception W. Let's take a little look at this weeks learning  

We started the week off with developing our Read Write Inc knowledge and skills. This week we will be learning the sounds i n p g o as well as revisiting the sounds from last week. Please remember to click on the links to the videos i sent home last week. 5 minutes practice every day will help the children greatly

In addition to our daily Read Write Inc lesson we have been listening to and watching the Elly and Fred videos. This is a super fun and easy way to help the children retain the sounds we are learning everyday 

Using the fabulous text Marvellous Me we talked about and thought about the amazing things we can do and how we are all different. Some things we find easy and some we find hard but we can try hard and never give up. Here we are creating our display work showing the things we are good at. We even had a go at writing a label. Keep up the great work everyone!

We also listened to the story The Weather inside Me. A lovely story that talks about feelings and emotions and how to deal with them. To help us understand these big feelings we made faces using mirrors, drew ourselves experiencing different emotions and talked about the things that happen that make us feel a certain way. We continue with our letter detective work. Scanning a page from the text of the week, finding letters we have been learning about and circling them - a great pre reading skill. This is something you can try at home - choose a book, start on the first sentence and slowly trail your finger looking for a sound. The children love this 

We have also taken the opportunity to take our learning outdoors this week. We had a great time using lots of different natural materials to create faces linked to the text Marvellous Me. And the work the children produced is truly marvellous. Take a little look 

We have also been exploring pattern in the creative area. We have talked about repeating patterns, colours, shapes and the children explored creating their own pattern wheel. Take a look at these lovely examples 

We have also been learning together to make up and retell stories using small world and how to use our words to communicate our needs. Here are some examples of the way we have been developing our communication skills in class  

In Music this week we listened to the track Happy by Pharrell Williams. We talked about the way the music made us feel. We had some really great answers ....

Why not listen to it at home and talk about how it makes you feel 

We also created a class charter. We talked about the things we would need to do and have in place to make our classroom a happy and safe learning environment for all. Here is our charter up in class to help remind us
