week ending 21st November 2025

Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. We have had a marvellous week in class. We have been so busy and productive using our text of the week What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside. Let's start by taking a closer look at some of the lovely invitations to come and learn we have explored smiley

One of the lovely activities we did this week involved creating a story map about the events in the story. This activity gave us lots of lovely opportunities to explore language, order of events and the things the characters did in the story. We are promoting using the pictures as a means of helping us orally retell a story. We are improving in accuracy and confidence each week smiley

We have also been developing our skills linked to gathering information from a picture. Using a picture from the seaside we identified what we could see and then had a go at writing it down in a list format yes

We also explored letter sounds in our phonic area. We took letter tiles with letter sounds on them and pushed them together to read the word. Here we are in action. Say the sound, read the word smiley

We also spent some time comparing the setting in the story - seaside to our school setting. We looked carefully at photographs of the seaside and the photographs around school. We  talked about similarities and differences and shared our ideas with our friends

Linked to the text of the week we read cvc words from shells. We said the sounds out loud, pushed them back together and then had a go at writing the words. Take a look at the fabulous writing we produced smiley

In Maths this week we have been exploring part and whole. The best way to support the children with this new knowledge was to think about a cake - yummy! If we cut the cake into parts and share them it is no longer whole. We used photographs of our body and cut them into different parts for example arms, leg, head, body and then we put them all back together again to make us whole!

And finally, PE. This week has been about working together. We have played games like Follow my Leader and the cone game - one team had to turn the cones one way and the other team had to work together to turn them upside down. We had a great time and it really showcases our listening skills.

Next weeks text of the week is the story On The Farm. This will give us a lovely insght into the animals on the farm and how they differ in terms of habitat and looking after. If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click on the link below -
