Welcome to the blog. We've had a great week, we were very excited to go on a trip to Haigh Hall on Thursday, especially as it had snowed. We all loved the bus ride and enjoyed walking through the grounds. We looked at the autumn trees, the leaves and loved walking in the snow on the grass. It was lovely to see the Christmas tree in the courtyard. We were all wrapped up in very warm clothes as it was a cold and frosty morning.
Our text this week has been 'On the Farm' by Axel Scheffler. In Literacy we have learned about farm animals. We have found out about different animals that live on a farm, we drew an animal and wrote what it is called. We thought about all the different foods we get from the farm, whether it is grown or something we get from the animals like milk or eggs. We wrote lists of the different foods we could think of that we can buy in a farm shop.
In maths we have been watching the Numberblocks make 'Stampoline' patterns. We have looked at all the different patterns Numberblocks 3, 4 and 5 can make when they rearrange their blocks and used positional language to describe the patterns. We made our own patterns using squares of paper. We have also talked about the parts of a day morning, afternoon and night and the things we do at the different times, we listened to the story, 'Night Monkey, Day Monkey' by Julia Donaldson.
Our role play shed has been changed into a Veterinary Surgery. We have animals to look after and need to see why the animals are sick and write prescriptions. We've really enjoyed our new role play.
We've had lots of activities based on our text 'On the Farm' and lots of activities to develop our skills.
Next week we will be working with the text 'Rumble in the Jungle' by Giles Andreae. If you would like to listen to the book please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
