Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a fabulous week of learning we have had. Let's look at some of the invitations to come and play we have explored
We created our own story maps at the start of the week to help us learn about the story and the characters. This is one of our favourite activities and really does help us to learn about the beginning, middle and end of the story and to talk about the events in the story
We then explored putting the characters in the correct order according to the story. Here we are identifying, ordering and then retelling the story in our own words
We even used the story of the Enormous Turnip to help us with our yoga. We created lots of new and different poses this week. Take a look at us in action. We are fabulous!
WE have also been busy in the creative area this week. Who knew there were so many different artists that used vegetables as the focus for their work. We looked at the work of Arcimboldo and Pepin and then created our own masterpieces. We are so proud of our work and rightly so!
We alos took our knowledge of Traditional Tales to the next level. We looked at some of the repetitive refrains from the story that we knew well for example run, run as fast as you can you can't catch me I'm the .... and talked about which story they came from. Here we are sorting our speech bubbles and finding the matching stories
We have also been busy in the Funky Finger area in class. We have created a repeatign pattern on an enormous turnip. Our pincer grip is loving these types of activities and they really do help a child to develop their grip
As part of our thinking story we looked at how recycling plastic could help the world. We were set a challenge to look around our classroom and find things made of plastic. We learned all about how long it takes to break down and the damage it does. We are now going to be recycling more in class.
Next week we will be celebrating Chinese New Year and learning all about the customs and celebrations. This year 2025 will be the year of the snake. Take a look over the weekend on tv and in newspapers and see if you can find out anything. I'd love to know about your findings. Please see the link below for the story of The Great Race - a story as to how the animals form the Chinese Zodiac calendar
