Welcome to our blog. This week we have loved working with the story 'Zog' by Julia Donaldson. Zog is a dragon who just wants to get a gold star from his teacher at Dragon School but keeps getting things wrong. In literacy we have written about the things Zog learn to do at school, like, learning how to fly, breathe fire and roar. We have described our own dragons, written about something we have done that would deserve a gold star and compared Zog's school to ours looking at things that are the same and things that are different.
In maths we have been looking at numbers to 20 and beyond. We have subitised smaller amounts but then thought about ways we can count accurately when there are a lot of objects or pictures, we suggested grouping the objects or drawing a ring or crossing out pictures to make sure we only count them once. We have chosen random numbers to 20 and clapped the correct amount of times.
We have been very creative this week, we've made our own gold reward stars by colouring and collage, we have drawn and painted characters and scenes from the story and we have shown great skills when drawing castles.
We've had lots of other activities in our class, some have been based on Zog and others are to help us develop our knowledge and skills. We've had lots of fun this week.
Next week we will continue our theme of Julia Donaldson books, we will be reading 'Charlie Cook's Favourite Book'. If you would like to hear the story please click the link below.
Unfortunately due to the weather we had to cancel Sports Day but a new date will be set very soon.
Have a lovely weekend.
