Welcome back after the February half term, we hope you had a lovely break.
This week we have been using the text 'Oliver's Vegetables' by Vivian French. In the story Oliver tries lots of different vegetables that grow in his Grandpa's garden. We have made story maps, we have thought about the vegetables we like to eat and drawn and labelled them. We have also looked at real vegetables and photographs and talked about and have written words to describe some of the vegetables Oliver ate.
In maths we have been counting beyond 20, we have followed the pattern of twenty-ONE, twenty-TWO, twenty-THREE etc to help us count bigger numbers. We have been looking at how 6 is made of 5 and 1 more, 7 is made of 5 and 2 more etc. We have used our fingers, counters, blocks and the Numberblocks to help us.
We have been very creative with the vegetables. We have drawn still life pictures, we have painted pictures of the vegetables and we have completed pictures where we had half a picture of a vegetable and we added our own half.
We've had lots of activities in our classroom based around our text of 'Oliver's Vegetables'. We have had play dough activities, funky fingers, writing and maths activies and we have had soil, spades and plant pots in the tray.
We've had some lovely sunny days this week so we have had a lovely time playing on our climbing frame. We have shown good skills for climbing and swinging.
Next week, we will be using the text, 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' by Vivian French.
