Welcome to our blog. We've had a roaringly great time using the text 'Rumble in the Jungle' by Giles Andreae this week. We've listened to the rhymes about all the different animals. We've picked animals and asked questions about things we want to know about them, we used the computer to get answers and wrote down what we found out. We looked through the book and picked our favourite animals to draw and write their name. Using pictures from the book we played 'I spy' and had to find the right animal to match the initial sound.
In maths this week we have done a lot of work revising what 'equal' means and what the 'stopping number' is. Bob our puppet kept getting it wrong but we helped him and he got it right in the end. We have practised counting and matching amounts to numerals 1 to 5. We have listened to the story 'Rosie's walk' and have used positional language to describe where Rosie and the fox are.
We've been very creative this week, we had half an animal picture that we needed to finish, we created animals from play dough and added pipe cleaners, beads and wobbly eyes. We looked at jungle paintings by the artist Rousseau and made our own pictures based on them. We copied animal patterns and drew some safari scenes.
We have lots of jungle animal activities in our continuous provision. We have learned lots of new skills and had lots of fun playing with our friends.
Next week we will be working with the text 'Arctic Animals' by Jill McDonald. If you would like to listen to the text please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
