Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog and what a fabulous week in has been in class. This week we have been busy learning using the text Rumble In The Jungle. Let's take a walk through this weeks learning
We started the week off with some lovely invitations to come and play and explore. Here are some of our jungle themed activities
We started the week off by creating a collage of all of the animals from the text of the week. We drew pictures, added labels and talked amongst our friends about the animals we could remember. Here we are recording some interesting facts about the animals from the story
We have also been busy using our phonic knowledge to help us to hear the initial (first) sound sin words. We played the game I Spy, drew a picture and recorded the initial sound of the animal and then read them to our friends to see if they could guess which animal we were describing. Take a look at our fantastic images and writing
We also used different coloured playdough and photographs of jungle animals to create a 3d model. Here is just one of the lovely examples. We have been thinking about the different features of animals and the colours of their fur, skin etc. Great work everyone!
Our Learning to Learn has been so well received this week. We have explored jungle animals in lots of different contexts, we have worn masks and made animal sounds, made marks in animal themed plates. A wonderful time was had by all
We have also been busy in the creative area creating images of the jungle in the style of Henri Rousseau. Take a look at the amazing work we have produced - can you spot the animals hiding in the undergrowth?
In our Music this week we have been learning and performing songs. Again, we have been listening to, identifying musical instruments, performing and then editing and enhancing our performance. Here is a little glimpse of this weeks focus
We have also been jungle letter detectives. We take a page from the text of the week and challenge the children to find certain sounds from the extract. It makes it even more exciting as we get to wear a letter detective lanyard. Amazing work everyone
Finally here is a quick round up of other things we have been enjoying in class. We love to learn facts from a book, recreate stories we have listened to and we even managed to find some jungle pattern buttons to thread. Enjoy!
