Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a fabulous week we have had learning all about Stickman in the glorious sunshine. Let's start off by looking at our lovely invitations to come and learn
We started off the week by listening to the story of Stickman. We talked it through and thought we might like to make our very own stickman. We used lots of different materials, tested, predicted and worked through any problems to create a stickman. We then tested him out just like in the story were the children used him as apohh stick. Take a look at us we had a great time
The Stickman story has given us lots of opportunities to develop our Funky Fingers this week. We have threaded stickmen and used pegs to create repeating pattern stickmen. Take a look at us learning
We even took our Funky Finger learning out onto the ALPS. We listened to a story underneath the bird song and created bird feeders. We threaded cheerios onto pie cleaners and twisted them to make circles to hand from the tree. What a glorious day we had
This week we have looked for hidden Gruffalos in the Julia Donaldson texts we have in school. We discovered that Julia Donaldson has written over 210 story books. Amazing! The Gruffalo story was the very first book that she wrote and since she has hidden images of the Gruffalo in her later stories. We spent time looking through the books to find them. Ask your child to show you where they are hidden - I have included the photographs to help
We created a giant story map all about the journey of Stickman. We told the story orally and then annotated it with our own illustrations. Take a look at our amazing work and our writing. Brilliant.
In PE this week we have bene thinking about the skills needed to be a jumper! we talked about high jumps, long jumps, jumps on the sport and travelling jumps. We played games were we had to squat and jump in different ways. Definitely one to get the heart working hard
We used our Stickman theme to make letters using dough, we wrote about Stickman and even painted with stocks in the creative area. Take a look at our lovely creative learning ideas
We had a great time at Little Barn Farm. The children were an absolute credit and were so gentle and sensitive to the animals needs. We learned all about why they mark the animals, what they eat and where they live. Amazing!
Next week we will be using the text The Snail and The Whale.
