Welcome to the last blog of the spring term. This week we have been working with a lovely story called 'Jasper's Beanstalk' by Nick Butterworth. It follows the order of Jasper planting a bean seed and what it needs to grow and how he patiently waits for it to grow. We have followed the order of the days of the week and what Jasper did each day, we have used our imaginations to think what could be at the top of Jasper's beanstalk. We have written instructions for planting a seed.
In maths we have had a week learning about weighing and capacity. We have weighed Numicon pieces to and used the language heavy, heavier, heaviest and light, lighter, lightest and balanced. In capacity we have used pots and water to show full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty and empty. We have counted how many spoonful's of water are needed to fill the pot and which pots hold more or less.
This week we have had the 'Easter Bonnet Parade'. A lot of hard work went into all the amazing bonnets the children brought in. The children were very proud to show off their bonnets as they walked around the playground in the sunshine. They were all rewarded with a chocolate egg.
We've had lots of activities based around Jasper's beanstalk and growing seeds and plants. We've had a go at gardening and planting. We've been very artistic and been drawing Jasper the cat and we've painted flowers.
After the spring break we will be working with Julia Donaldson stories. The first one we will be using for our work is 'Spinderella'. If you would like to hear the story please use the link below.
Have a wonderful break and we hope the sun keeps shining. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 22nd April.
