Week ending 4th July

Welcome to our class blog. We've had lots of fun this week working with the text, 'Charlie Cook's Favourite Book' by Julia Donaldson. In literacy we have been reading sentences and matching them to the correct pictures from the book. We found out about alliteration and had lots of fun making up characters like Peter Penguin, Charlie Chimp, Carley Crocodile etc. We've had a lovely time looking at all the Julia Donaldson books we've been finding out about over this term, we looked through them, retold parts of the stories and talked about which are are favourites and why we like them.

In maths we have been looking at more and fewer and comparing amounts. We have practised 1 more and 1 fewer and shown this using the blocks. We have looked at how each consecutive number is 1 more each time. We have thought about where numbers fit on a numberline and which are smaller numbers and which are larger numbers.

We've been very creative, we've designed book covers, we've made stick puppets of story characters, we've painted scenes from the story and made our own books.

Our classroom has had lots of great activities, many related to the 'charlie Cook's Favourite Book' and many activities to build our knowledge and skills.

Next week we will be working with the text, 'Tabby McTat' by Julia Donaldson. If you would like to listen to the story please click the link below.

There is also a lovely animation of Tabby McTat on BBC iplayer.

Have a lovely weekend.
