Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog and the wonderful text In Every House on Every Street. Let's take a little look to begin with at some of the lovely experiences we have explored this week in class
We started the week off as we always do with a Read Write Inc session. I am really pleased with the progress that the children are making with retaining their sounds. Our daily practice sessions, work on the laptops and the support you deploy at home to watch the videos together is really paying off. Keep up the good work everyone. This week we have been learning b f e h and l. Look out for the videos coming soon via Weduc. In the meantime here are are developing our letter formation skills
We started the week off by getting creative. We used stones, sticks and other materials to create representations of people - some of whom may belong in our families. Here are some of the ideas we came up with.
We also thoought about the different rooms in our houses. We talked about how some people had toilets downstairs and some houses have 3 or 4 or even more bedrooms. We talked about the different things we do in the different rooms in our houses and then created pictures about our own favourite rooms. Here are some of the examples
We have been deploying our letter detection skills this week. We have taken an extract of the text of the week and scanned it looking for particular letter sounds. Here we are using our scanning finger
Each Monday we take a story that encourages us to think, reflect and discuss its meaning. This week was a lovely story about a seahorse that was different to its friends. However, we discovered that whilst each of us may be different and like different things we are all equally as special and respected
We also made our own houses and added the people who live in them to our house. This was such a lovely discussion point and the children loved comparing brothers, sisters and family pets
In Maths this week we have been learning all about the number 4. We have been looking at the composition of 4 for example 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4, 2 + 2 = 4 and 3 + 1 = 4. The children have been exploring different ways to represent 4
We continue to love exploring in our Learning to Learn sessions everyday. Here we are getting active
We had a great time in our PE lesson this week. We explored different movements and techniques using paper streamers. We created shapes, holds and lots of wonderful balances. Here we are in action
We have also been doing Yoga sessions in class. We are loving following the Cosmic Yoga programmes on You Tube. Google it and join in at home
Here are the links to the sessions we have enjoyed ....

Next week we will be using the text A New Home for a Pirate. A lovely story about Pirate Jed who no longer wants to live aboard a ship and wants to find a house high on the hill with a roof as blue as the sky. Listen to the story by clicking the link below ....
