Welcome to this weeks blog. It has been a very short week but we have still done plenty of work. We have worked with the Julia Donaldson story 'Charlie Cooks Favourite Book'.
We've had lots do as there are so many different characters in this story. In Literacy we have designed our own book cover and made up a name for our book. We have been finding out about alliteration and making lists of words that have the same sound at the beginning. We have been looking at lots of different books and talking about them.
In our maths lessons, we have been practising subitising and match numerals to their value. We are continuing to practise our number bonds to 5 and also to 10. We have been counting beyond 20 and ordering numerals to 10 or 20.
We have had lots of craft activities based on the story characters and we have particularly enjoyed making flying saucers from paper bowls. We decorated them by drawing and collaging them. We have painted story characters, drawn with chalk pastels. We practised our cutting skills making story characters.
We have had lots of continuous provision activities going on. It's been lots of fun in our class this week.
This week our parents got our reports and met our new teacher for year 1 who is Mrs Hannon and our class will be called 1F. We are looking forward to meeting her in her classroom very soon.
Next week we will be doing activities based on re-reading some of the Julia Donaldson books we have looked at over this term.
Have a lovely weekend.
