Week ending 6th June

Welcome to the blog in our first week back after half term. We have had a lovely week working with the Julia Donaldson story, 'Monkey Puzzle'.

In literacy we have written about different jungle animals, we have done sentence building where we had to rearrange the words from sentences in the book. We really enjoyed asking questions about different animals and finding the answers using the internet and books. Did you know a baby monkey is called an infant? We have thought about the order of the story and created a story map.

In maths we have been comparing amounts thinking about which has more and which has fewer. We have been working out 1 more and 1 fewer than a given amount. We have been looking at numbers and when counting each new number is 1 more than the last. We have looked at different patterns and made our own repeating patterns.

We've been very create this week making animal pictures, looking at different patterns that animals have. Looking at safari sunsets and creating our own using the pastel crayons. We looked at jungle plant art by Henri Rousseau and painted amazing pictures of our own.

We had our last session of music with Mrs Shirley. We learned a new song about minibeasts, we sang to Sam the puppet and we used the egg shakers to follow the rhythm of the music. We have loved our music lessons on a Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Shirley.

We've had lots of jungle and jungle animal activities going on in our class, we've had lots of fun this week. Here are some pictures to show you what we have been doing.

Next week we will be using the text, 'What the ladybird heard next' by Julia Donaldson. If you would like to listen to the story please click the link below.

Have a lovely weekend.
