Hello and welcome back to this weeks blog. What a wonderful week it has been in class. We have used Monkey Puzzle as the focus text this week and it has opened up a whole world of learning. Let's start by looking at our invitations to come and learn
We started the week off by looking at the characters in the story and thinking about what more information we wanted to learn about them. For example did you know that bats sleep upside down? We discovered lots of new facts and information taht we cannot wait to share with you
We have been looking at where the story Monkey Puzzle is set. We have been exploring the jungle this week in the creative area. We sketched animals and used all kinds of collage materials to create 3d jungle scenes. Great work everyone
We have also been creating our own story maps. We drew pictures and arrows showing which way to read and then created and retold the story using our own maps. Amazing. We are so very proud of them
As you may recall we have had the wonderful Mrs Shirley into class each and every Wednesday to help us develop our musical talents. This week we had a session linked to the text Superworm. Oh what a wonderful afternoon we had!
We also have been busy with our funky fingers. We love this area in the classroom and we cannot wait to explore it. Here we are adding pegs to the monkey from the story. We even created repeating patterns!
We also loved taking our new bubble machine out onto the playground. The sun shining was just perfect as we discovered the colours the bubbles created and as we tried to gently catch them on our hands
Next weeks text of the week will be the story What the Ladybird Heard Next. Yet another lovely Julia Donaldson story. If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click the link below -
