Welcome to our first class blog after the half term break. We are continuing our work on Julia Donaldson books, this week we have based a lot of our work on the book 'Superworm'. In our literacy work we have been reading passages from 'Superworm' and spotting some of the sounds and spelling rules we have been learning. We have been writing speech bubbles, thinking about what the story characters might be saying. We found out about worm farms and made one in our class, then we wrote instructions about how to make one. We also made play dough worms and wrote instructions how to make them.
In Maths, we have been comparing numbers. We been recapping on 'more' and 'fewer'. We have been comparing amounts saying which has more and which is less or if there are the 'same' or 'equal' amounts. We have been sorting numbers thinking about how the next number is one more and the previous number is one less. We have recapped on odd and even numbers. We have also been looking at patterns, we have been making patterns using coloured cubes.
In our music lesson we listened to the classical music piece called 'William Tell Overture; by Rossini. We talked about how the music made us feel and whether we liked it or not.
We've had lots of 'Superworm' and minibeast activities going on in our classroom. We have drawn, painted, cut and collaged minibeasts. In the 'Superworm' story the Wizard Lizard has a magic flower so we used our creative skills to make our own magic flowers.
We've had a lot of fun activities to help us learn around our classroom.
Next week we will be learning with the Julia Donaldson story, 'Monkey Puzzle'.
