Welcome to our blog. We had a great time on Thursday celebrating World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite story characters, we talked about stories we like, we drew book covers, made book marks and played with toys based on story books.
Here are some pictures of us having fun on World Book Day.
In Literacy this week we have used the text 'Oliver's Fruit Salad'. We have been describing fruit, writing about our favourite fruit and we wrote a shopping list for making a fruit salad using our Read Write Inc knowledge to spell the words.
In Maths, we have been working with numbers to 8, we have ordered the Numberblocks and explained why they fit in particular places eg. 5 is 1 more than 4 and 3 is 1 less than 4. We looked at which Numberblocks can hide behind eg. Numberblock 6, which is Numberblocks 5,4,3,2,1 because they are less and which Numberblocks can't hide behind 6 because they are more. We have also looked at length and been measuring string worms with blocks and talked about which are longer and which are shorter.
It has also been Pancake Day this week so we have had some fun pancake activities to do.
We have had lots of great activities to do in our class this week with lots of them being based on fruit because our text is 'Oliver's Fruit Salad'. We've looked at real fruit and lots of photographs.
Next week, we will be using the text 'The Growing Story' by Ruth Krauss. If you would like to follow the story please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
