week ending 7th November 2025

Hello and welcome to our class blog. We hope that you all had a restful weeks holiday and are raring to go for this busy term. This week we have been using the text Jacob O'Reilly wants a pet - a lovely story about a little boy who asks for lots of different pets such as a walrus, emu and a lizard. In the end he settle for a snail! Let's take a look at this weeks invitations to learn smiley

We started the week off by thinking about what animal we would like to have as a pet. We thought about the weird and wonderful creatures we could have - I am sure that you as parents would be interested in hearing some of the wishes surprise

Let's take a look at some of our fabulous ideas enlightened

We have also been looking at the features of different animals. In the creative area we took half prints of different animals and then added the other half of the features. This took a lot of time and patience and we are thrilled with the final results. Take a look at our budding artists smiley

We also explored water colours and the different techniques and outcomes we can achieve with them. Here we are in action smiley

We used the internet and books to find out more information about some of the animals Jacob wanted. We discovered so many interesting and exciting facts and recorded them and shared them with our friends. Take a look at what we discovered yes

We managed to squeeze in some learning about Bonfire Night and more importantly how to stay safe. We used Katy Perry's You're a Firework song in PE and recreated some of the actions of fireworks and even created some mark making on huge paper in time with a very famous piece of music all about fireworks - Handel's Music for Royal Fireworks and Tchaikovosky's 1812 overture. We had a great time!

In our Maths work this week we have been exploring the number 5. We loved giving our friends a high 5! We talked about the number of fingers on our hands and how we know without the need to count there are 5. We then added 5 counters to a hand print that were the same and then swapped them to 5 that were different - this helps us to understand the language of 5 and same and different.

And finally here is a little round up of lots of other lovely learning experiences we have explored this week. What a wonderfully busy week of learning. Enjoy the pictures! smiley

Next week we will be using the text Commotion In The Ocean as the focus for our learning. We will be learning all about animals that live in the sea and we will explore their habitat and learn more about these wonderful creatures.
