Welcome to our blog. We've had a great week based on the book, 'Commotion in the Ocean' by Giles Andreae. In Literacy we have looked at the rhyming words in the book and had a go at making rhyming strings, we have used clay to make our own sea creatures and written labels for them. We have chosen sea creatures and used the ipad to answer our questions and find out about them. We have chosen a sea creature we like, drawn it and had a go a writing some of the sounds we can hear in their name.
In maths, we have been finding out what 'equal' is and make sets of things that are of equal quantities. We have set the table for the 3 bears and given equal numbers of plates, bowls and spoons to them. We have been building towers with equal numbers of blocks. We have compared quantities and said which set has 'more' and which has 'fewer'. We have looked at 2D shapes focusing on shapes with 4 sides. We have sorted 2D shapes and have looked at shapes within shapes, we all had a square of paper and folded them to make new shapes, we made rectangles and triangles.
We have done a lot of creative activities this week, producing sea creatures in many ways, painting, drawing, clay and gluing. We've made tropical fish, jellyfish, turtles etc. It was bonfire night on Tuesday so we've been very creative and made firework pictures with glue and glitter.
We've had lots of other activities going on in our classroom to help us learn. We've had lots of fun this week.
Next week we will be using the story 'What the ladybird heard at the seaside' by Julia Donaldson, for our learning. If you would like to hear the story please click the link below.
Have a lovely weekend.
