Hello and a lovely warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a fabulous week jammed full of learning. We took the story of the Snail and the Whale as the focus for this week. Let's have a look at this weeks invitations to come and learn
We started the week off by thinking about questions we wanted to know more about. We talked about our existing knowledge of snails and whales and we created some lovely questions that we used the internet to find out the answers to. Great detective work everyone
We utilised the opportunity to use the content of the story to develop our creative skills. We mixed silver paint and glitter together and wrote messages on large black rocks using a glittery trail just like in the story
In the story of the Snail and the Whale they visited far off lands filled with ice bergs, mountains, volcanoes and golden sands. We talked about the type of things we would see in these places and write our own postcards to our loved ones. Take a look at our fabulous writing
In our Funky Finger area we used polystyrene tiles, clay tools and the end of a paintbrush to create an impression. We added snails and whales to our tiles and we cannot wait to use paint and create some prints
We really did enjoy our music session with Mrs Shirley. We took a walk through the woods and met stickman and his family. We used the claves to tap out the beat and added words to the story. This is one of our favourite parts of the week. Here we are recreating the story of Stickman
We have been exploring the story of The Snail and the Whale in our Learning to Learn sessions. Take a look at us exploring sand and texture, stretching putty to create waves and using our pincer grip to add pegs to whales
In our PE session this week we have been exploring movement, in particular, jumping. We discovered that by using our arms to elevate us we can jump both higher and further. We have played games, pretended to be shadows and follow the leader. Great work everyone
We then went outside and extended this further by looking at our shadow on the ground and running and jumping holding ribbon and watching what happens
Next week we will be using the text The Smartest Giant in Town. If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click on the link below
