10th June

Our topic this half term is 'Holidays'

Before we can begin to learn about different holidays, we thought it was important that following on from the children's previous learning of Vehicles (such as cars and aeroplanes) we discussed the different countries in the world.

We have looked at the Earth and identified where some of our families come from.  We have a diverse range of families represented within our classroom

Nigeria      Slovakia     America      Poland     Latvia     Egypt      Scotland     Kurdistan     and of course England.

We found our own homes on Google Earth.  You can look at this with your child- the street view amazed them!

We found our homes, beaches, visited Skegness and even a monster truck repair shop in Florida!

This is the map we created

We also thought about different countries that we already know on our Earth.  The adults were surprised when the children said:

'Australia!'      'America!'    'Slovakia!'

              'Africa!'           'England!'

We have also learned about some new countries by reading different stories this week.

Next week we will be comparing two countries:

Egypt and Canada

We will be thinking about the weather, the land and the clothes we need if we were to visit these countries.
