13th November

We are very excited about Christmas in year 2! Lots of silly elves at home are giving us interesting stories to tell each morning!

English

In English this week we have been writing our own adventure stories! We based this on the opening scenes of The Polar Express and used our senses to write about what we could see and hear to make our writing sound more exciting.

Maths

In Maths this week we have continued to focus on subtraction. We are getting more confident at counting back from any given number to 100 in 1s and 10s. This week we tried three step subtraction. It's a bit tricky at first!

This is what it looks like

65 - 23 = 42

65 - 20 = 45 (take away the tens)

45 - 3 = 42 (take away the ones)

Topic

In topic this week we have been looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy. We used classroom objects to create sculptures, practising making the shapes Andy Goldsworthy uses like wavy lines, circles and spirals. Then we used natural objects to create our own Andy Goldsworthy inspired art work.

Have a lovely weekend!

Lots of love,

Mrs Hannon & Mrs Haselden
