14th June

English

This week we have been preparing for our new unit of talk for writing. We wrote a setting description about an eerie canal and followed this up by writing fantastic pieces of poetry title ‘By the Canal’.

Maths

We have continued to work on our understanding of shape, focusing on 3D shapes.  We have learnt about faces, curved surfaces, edges and vertices.

Can you name any 3D shapes?

Science

This week in science we have started to look at omnivores, carnivores and herbivores. We learnt that carnivores eat meat, herbivores eat plants and omnivores eat meat and plants.

Are these animals’ carnivores, herbivores or omnivores?

  • Lions
  • Giraffes
  • Rabbits
  • Pigs
  • Humans

Topic

On to our last topic of the year ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside.’ This week we have got up to date on our knowledge of the U.K, learning which countries make up the U.K and some of the major cities around the U.K.

How many U.K. cities can you name?

Computing

We have continued to look at databases this week, conducting research into seaside towns across the U.K, ready to create our own database using Purple Mash in the coming weeks.

P.E

We started our new focus for P.E this week, rounders! We learned the correct techniques for throwing and catching and worked on our fielding skills.

Have a great weekend!
