Hi everyone,

Another busy week here in year 1!

We loved seeing your Pudsey outfits this week, thank you so much for your support and generous donations for Children in Need.

In English this week we have been preparing and writing our non-chronological reports on Humpback Whales. We included subheadings with information about their diet and looks. And even included a fun fact section too! Here are some of our fun facts; Did you know humpback whales actually have two blowholes? Whale songs are so loud they can be heard for miles! Girl whales are actually bigger than boy whales! Did you know Humpback Whales have no teeth?? Finally, they hunt for food by blowing bubbles! What fascinating facts!

In maths we have been learning to solve addition problems using pictures to help us. For example: Ron has 5 marbles. He gets 3 more, how many does he have in total?

In science we have continued our work on seasons by creating a seasons wheel identifying the different clothing and weather we need for each season. We thought rain coats and wellies were best for the rain in spring. Shorts and t-shirts were most suited to summer (and we had our fingers crossed for BBQs and ice creams this year!). Autumn needed jackets as the weather starts to turn chilly and it can be windy. Finally winter required thick coats, woolly hats and scarfs as the weather turns cold (we were hoping for snow)!

Have a fabulous weekend!
