Hello and thank you for visiting our 3F Class Blog.
We’ve had another busy time again this week in class.
In English we have been practising our spellings and have worked hard trying our best to achieve our spelling badges, so that we can wear them proudly and show what a whizz at spelling we are.
We have been learning about instructions and had great fun planning and then writing instructions on how to get to the ALPS, our outdoor learning area. We had heard that some mean, selfish pirates had been spotted in the woods and that there may be some amazing, shiny buried treasure, so we were all extremely excited to go and search for it! Do you think we found it?
Oh YES, HURRAY!!
We all then went on to write a recount about how we found the treasure.
Our focus in Maths this week has been on Column Addition of 2 three-digit numbers using the expanded method. We have been working on regrouping our 1s and 10s. This is how we did it ...
Would you like a go? See if you can work out the answers…
1. 242 + 119 =
2. 228 + 214 =
3. 193 + 141=
4. 283 + 252=
How did you get on?
We have been trying our best at learning our 2,5 and 10 times tables so that we can get our first wrist band. It would be fantastic if you could practise these at home as doing a little every day makes it so much easier. We have been thinking about the inverse of multiplying being dividing. It would be great if you can help us to practise, for example:
6 x 2 = 12
12 sweets shared by 2 people = 6 sweets each
In topic we have been learning about the world and researched on the internet about North and South America. We now know some amazing facts! The children had great fun using an atlas to find various flags from around the world and capital cities for countries in Europe.
Do you know your flags? Test yourself on these!
P.E. for us has been ‘Football’ were we have developed our skill at turning with the football under control.
It has also been Parents Evening in school this week and we would like to thank you all for taking the time to come. We found it really valuable and hope you did too.
Today is the last day of this term. Have a lovely week and we look forward to you checking back in after the holidays.
Take care,
From Everyone in 3F
