27th September

Welcome back to our class blog.

In English this week we have been sequencing our class novel 'George's Marvellous Medicine'. We have been thinking about making sure our writing is in the right order, with the correct punctuation and are beginning to check our own work to make sure it is accurate.

In Maths we have continued working on place value. We have been learning to partition a number (or split it up) into how many 10s and 1s it is made up of.

In Science we have been learning about human growth and decided to investigate whether humans get faster as they grow.  Some very kind year 5 children came to help with our investigation and we noticed they were all bigger than us. We ran as fast as we could across the MUGA and Mrs Hannon timed us. Then the year 5 children did the same. We found the year 5 children were all faster than we were and thought it might be because they were taller and had longer legs. We discovered humans do get faster as they grow through childhood.

In Topic we have been looking at the history of Wigan and made our own timeline of significant events such as when the pier, hospital and train station was built. We also looked as when we got electricity in Wigan and when the Grand Arcade and galleries were built.

In PSHE we have been learning about how to keep safe when we are out with friends. We learnt about stranger danger and how to get attention from others or get to a safe place if a stranger approaches us and makes us feel uncomfortable.

That's all for this week. We will see you again next week

Love from

Mrs Hannon, Mrs Haselden

and all of Year 2F
