4.3.22

Welcome Back! We hope you had a lovely half term break.

English

This week we have started to look at the story 'The Way Back Home' by Olvier Jeffers. In our writing this week we have been describing the martian from the story using adjecitves and and sentences.

We learnt this story map:

The martian has an orange and yellow stripy jumper. It has a star on it. His skin is green and slimy. His helmet is silver and shiny. He has two arms and two legs. His arms and legs are thin.

Maths

In maths this week we have started to work on numbers to 50. We have been counting forwards and backwards, practising reading and writing these numbers and making these numbers using tens and ones. It would really help us if we practised counting forwards and backwards from any number in this range and counting in 10s from 0.

Science

In Science we have started our work on materials again and recapping our prior knowledge on this topic. We have been thinking about what materials we would need to make a space suit. We're going to investigate the properties of materials over the next few weeks to see if our chosen materials would be suitable.

Topic

In topic this week we have introduced our new topic, 'First Steps'. We have been looking at the histor of space travel. We found out about Albert II, Laika the dog, Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, Helen Sharman and Tim Peake and we will be learning some more about this through our history lessons this half term.

World Book Day

A huge thank you to every body for helping us to celebrate World Book Day in style! We have had a story from Mrs Dickenson this morning, extra stories throughout the day. Thought about who we'd like to share a story with and what story and made a bookmark.

Have a lovely weekend
