We have had a lovely first week back in year 2. Everyone has settled in well and are enjoying the routine of year 2.
This week we have learnt the poem, 'Do Yours Ears Hang Low' and we have written our own versions of this poem including our own rhyming words.
We have been looking at measuring length this week using cubes and centimetres.
We have challenged the children to practice counting at home. We asked them to practice counting forwards and backwards from 100 and from any number, and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
We have introduced our topic, 'Wonderful Wigan' this week and the children have shared all the different things they already know about their local area.
In science we have introduced our topic, 'Animals including humans' and we sorted animals into different groups.
A quick reminder...
Big Cat reading books need to be brought in every day. We want to encourage the children to read at least a page each night and bring their reading book back to school each day. In class we have rewards for reading too!
Maths homework will be given each Friday, to be returned the by the following Friday.
Our PE day this year is Thursday, please can you ensure children have their PE kits in school on this day.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Rose, Ms Rose and all of 2W
