In our pre-literacy groups, we went for a text hunt around school.
Pointing out text to your child and giving it meaning; on road signs, shop names, car number plates, invitations, on the internet etc is vital to their acquisition of early reading skills. The children looked closely at text to find letters that they are familiar with, especially letters from their own name.
