Welcome back to the Year 4 Blog.  The children have been so excited this week following their Christmas break.  They have been sharing what they've been up to and the presents that they received from Father Christmas.  It sounds as if everyone had a wonderful time.  We'd like to wish you all a very prosperous and peaceful New Year 2020.

 

This week we have begun our new Geography topic on rivers.  We have all heard of the river `Duggy' (Douglas), but this topic is about much more than our local river.  To begin the topic our teachers gave each group an OS Map.  OS stands for Ordnance Survey.  These type maps are really quite detailed and are often used by walkers and hikers.  These are the types of maps that you would use if you wanted to hike up a mountain, or follow a river from its source to its end.

Anyway, we had an amazing time finding features on the map.  The atmosphere in class was electric -so, so exciting.  Take a look at the photos below of us busy at work.  Then why not try the activity below that. Can you find some of the features on the OS Map?
