Welcome back to our weekly blog.
Well, it's been another really busy week here in Year 4. In Maths we have looked at multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using a formal method. Our teachers, being the kind souls that they are, allowed us to use a multiplication grid to help. They said that it is about learning the method and not getting stuck on the tables side. That's not to say that we aren't hard at work with our tables -we are. However, for this it was useful having they multiplication grid. Say, do you know how to use a multiplication grid?
Say we asked you, 7 x 9, what you would do is this...Find 7 on the top row, and 9 down the first column. Move your finger down from 7, and across from 9. Where your fingers meet -63, is your answer. Try some out. 6 x 7? 9 x 11? 6 x 8? 7 x 8?

In English, we have been busy working with our class novel -Varjak Paw. Wow, what a book. We have done all kinds of writing this week -we have thought about the character Jalal, we have thought about `the Way', which is the Seven Skills that Jalal teaches, and today we wrote our own blurb for the book.
